Love Letters

Mar 27, 2014

I think I'm losing the ability to keep up with any sort of  regular blogging pattern.
With that being said, I'm converting "Friday's Letters" to "Love Letters" ok?
Ok.
. . . because who wants these silly letters to be tied down to one day in particular (and who really cares?)

Dear Texas,
Celebrating your birthday gave me the perfect excuse to wear boots, shave my legs, and wear a chambray dress.
In true Texas fashion, we experienced 80 degrees followed by a freak snow/sleet/hailstorm in less than 24 hours.
Go home, you're drunk.
Dear climbing,
Although it's been a while since we dusted off our harnesses, you inspired us to get an indoor climbing gym membership.
. . . then we felt like some took a baseball bat to our forearms for about a week and changed our minds.
Dear Charles,
Don't get too used to this buddy.
Big life changing things are coming your way soon.
Dear Engagement Parties,
I'm glad you are a thing.
I absolutely love dressing up and eating party food and drinking party drinks all in the name of love and marriage.
. . . but how gorgeous is this little bride-to-be?
Dear cutest drummer boy in all the land,
If I have children that have 1/8th of your white-washed jeans genes I'll be the happiest girl alive.
Dear flats,
Thanks for existing.
Why am I so painfully awkward in heels?
Dear Trader Joes,
I'm angry that I can't find anything in your store that I hate.
What's a girl gotta do to find something so terrible that I'm not tempted to eat the entire bag in one sitting?
Dear Full Sail Brewing,
Thanks for your extra bottle caps.
While making super cute caps, you've simultaneously developed a very dangerous drinking game.
Side note: After three months of getting back into the brew game, we finally get to try our beer tonight!
Full post coming soon.
Dear every blogger in the world,
I have so many blog posts in the works/in my brain, but not near enough time to crank them out!
I truly don't know how you do it (especially you mothers and full-time workers out there)
Major kudos to y'all!

Our wedding album via Artifact Uprising

Mar 20, 2014

Making our wedding album was quite a meticulous process.
I had a very specific concept in mind, and initially I had a hard time finding the perfect company to use.
I came across Artifact Uprising (on Pinterest, I believe) and immediately fell in love with their simplistic style.
They had templates available for the page layouts, but they also had the option of completely customizing any page on your own.
I spent hours narrowing down our 3,000+ photos to fit onto 150 pages.
Ultimately I had to add about 27 more pages in order to include everything I wanted.
The cost was about $1/page, which was an ideal price point for me.
The only downfall was the fact that I wasn't able to go back and insert a page between previously completed pages.
It took me about four months to finalize the album.
I completed it section by section, due to my fear of forgetting to include particular pictures and having to erase pages in order to go back.
After lots of tedious work, the album was finally ordered, and I was completely blown away with the end result.
The quality was incredible and the company was SO great to work with.
I would highly recommend following them on instagram as well (@artifactuprising), because they are always posting inspiring images and creative ideas.

You can view our entire wedding album here
(be patient, it may take a while to load)

After making our wedding album, I saw that Artifact Uprising also offered custom calendars.
You can upload your own photos and choose which month you would like them to be displayed on.
They also include a really great clipboard with a magnet on the back.
I made a few custom calendars as birthday gifts for my friends using some of their Instagrams.
One of the recipients, my friend Nicole, is a photographer, and she snapped the calendar photos for me.
Aren't they so great?
Her company is Southern Shutter Photography, so go here to check out some more of her work!

Do you have any experience with the gorgeous work of Artifact Uprising?
If not, then check out everything they offer at www.artifactuprising.com.
You won't be disappointed!

Em's Bachelorette Bash

Mar 13, 2014

One of my best friends, Emily, is getting married in a few weeks!
Emily and I were roommates in college, and I'm so happy that Chase bit the big 'ol bullet and decided to marry this truly great girl.
Together with some friends, we celebrated all things Emily last weekend in Dallas for her bachelorette party.
Dallas is such a great place to have a girls weekend.
We hit all the high points.
The Maid of Honor did such a great job at taking care of everything.
She chose for us to stay at the Hotel Palomar, which was such a cute boutique hotel in a great location with top-notch staff.
We started the weekend Friday night on Knox-Henderson at The Old Monk, followed by a late night snack at Cafe Brazil.
For Saturday we went to The Porch for brunch, followed by dessert at Sprinkles.
It is completely normal to have dessert after brunch, right?
We had reservations that afternoon to get pampered with blowouts at Dry Bar, and Emily's sweet mother surprised us all with a limo for the evening.
After a few drinks, games, and gifts at the hotel, we rode in style to Stampede 66 followed by drinks uptown.
I'll let the photos from the weekend speak for themselves.
At least the ones that were appropriate enough to be put on the blog.
. . . but isn't the future Mrs. Burns just the cutest?
Excuse the excessive food and drink pics.
I just really love food and drinks and The Porch.
With our new fancy hair-dos, we returned to the room and finalized all the decorations for the lingerie shower.
Fresh strawberry margs, corset cookies, and cookie butter popcorn (with Cadbury eggs mixed in) made for a darn good lingerie shower.
Dirty charades was a hit.
. . . needless to say, these little boogers came in handy once Sunday morning rolled around.
Partially thanks to Claire's $300 public-display-of-a-champagne-purchase at dinner ;)
The weekend was definitely one to remember.
Quality girls weekends, particularly with your college friends, seem few and far between.
I'm so glad we were all able to get together, catch up, and make memories.
I love you Em, and I'm so happy we were able to spend a weekend celebrating YOU.
