Next Vacation: Booked

Feb 9, 2012

Our flight to NYC has been officially booked, but more importantly . . .

Our Newsies The Musical tickets have been purchased!

This trip will kinda be a little "celebratory" trip for Ellie graduating (and me finishing rotations!)
Speaking of the smartest little sister in the world, Ellie was just offered a 4 year scholarship to Tulane!
. . . and tonight I'm going to Minden, to watch Ellie get presented for "senior night" at her last home game ever, and then I'm helping her pick out clothes for her senior pics!
What happened to this precious little 90's Gap model?

Anyways, enough with the sob fest.
Now all that we have left to plan is the itinerary!
Mom and I have been to New York before, so we aren't dying to see that big ol statue lady or the again (unless Ellie wants to)

So far these stops have made the cut:
-Rice to Riches for rice pudding
(Ellie is dying to go there for some reason, sounds like the old folks home to me)
-Chinatown/Little Italy/SoHo, of course
-Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge (hopefully the weather will cooperate)
-Visit the high line!
(It was under construction last time I was in New York, and it was such a tease!)
These pictures from the blog Hither and Thither made up my mind, particularly this one:
I die.

-La Churreria for churros

-Crumbs, duh
When in doubt (or when you are the most indecisive individual on the face of Amurrrica) just get the sampler pack . . .

I'm patiently waiting on Of Revolt's Best of NYC post . . .
Anything you think we should add to the list?

Okay, so the name of your blog totally drew me in (similar to mine!), and I love your header, and then I saw "Newsies" and I was sold. So jealous you're going to see it! Your sister is so cute in that pic : ) And as far as New York - if you can handle any more sweets - I've always wanted to go to Magnolia, but that's just me : )

You're going to see The Newsies?! Oh my gosh, that took me back! I'm so jealous. I have to go rent the movie immediately. You and your sis will have a blast - sounds like you're planning an amazing trip :-)

Have you ever been to the Meatpacking District?? Pastis is there, which was made famous by the ladies of Sex & The City. Other great lunch or dinner options around there too.

If you like Mexican food, eat at a Dos Caminos. There's one in SoHo & there's one on Park. The guacamole is DIVINE!! It's also a hot spot for celebrities, so keep your eyes peeled.

Can't wait to read all about your trip after you go. Congrats to your little sister!! ;)

I must say....I am a huge fan of travel, craft, and music blogs, so to find all three in one is awesome.... Keep it up. You have given me so many ideas of things I want to do. I am an avid dashboarddiary reader.

I think you seriously NEED to add Levain Bakery to your list. Those cookies are PHENOMENAL. And Vanessa's Dumplings in Chinatown are bomb. Super cheap, filling and delicious food. My bf and I had lunch there for under $8 total!
