Back in 2007 (whoaaaaaaaaaaaa) Josh and I first heard about the Rothbury Music Festival.
It wasn't until 4th of July weekend in 2008, but we knew we had to go.
The lineup was insane and the location was amazing
. . . it was only a 23 hour drive to Michigan.
At the time, it was our longest road trip yet but we were determined to do it.
We started saving & mapped out the drive so that we could make some pretty cool stops along the way.
It turned out to be one of the best experiences ever . . . and the start of our music festival addiction.
We saved $540 in pure change . . . which all went towards the gas.
AHHHHHHHHHHh short hair!
We drove all night and made it to St. Louis for breakfast and a quick ride up the arch!
Riding the rickety womb like elevator up the arch with 4 little boys was definitely an experience.
I love Bart, can't you tell?
I think it's just his sleeveless tees that turn me on.
Once we arrived at our hotel in Chicago, we had to check out the supposed "World's Longest Bar"
I was SO Sex & the City
Riiiiiiiiiight.
Off to do some touristy sight seeing . . .
We found this neat-o fountain that projected random faces of different Chicago citizens every few minutes . . . all the while shooting water from their mouths.
. . . and they blinked.
Creep-y
The boys named this stage "The Whirlygig"
Grant Park
The Bean!
The start of a terrible tradition . . .
Terrifying cab ride
The Sears Tower
View from the Sears Tower
Always the goob
There are no words for this picture
Quick dinner at Big Boy Burger before our arrival to the festival
Check back later for Part 2 . . .
