Weekend getaway to Hackberry

Jul 5, 2011

For the 4th of July weekend, we went down to south Louisiana with our closest family friends.
All the guys stayed at the fishing camp in Hackberry, and the girls got to stay at the L'Auberge Casino in Lake Charles.
The last trip that we all went on together was Gulf Shores a few years ago (and we refused to ever return because we got robbed), so it was great for everyone to enjoy another stress-free mini vacation.

(Ok, I'm gonna apologize in advance for the insanely large amount of pictures in this post. I can't help it.)

This was the lazy river and the pools at the casino.

The elevator security guards.

Oh yea! The "Swamp People" were there...
For the record, the boys claim the Swamp dudes asked if they could take a picture with them.
(and yes, the rat tail is real)

All the girls at dinner...

They had Shiner Ruby Red on tap!

All the adults...

Ellie ate almost all the fried alligator.

Mom was bustin out all her moves to The Jackson Five.

During the late night hours at Jack Daniel's "Saloon" we thought we ran into a former contestant from this season of The Bachelorette . . . on second thought maybe we were wrong.
He had a pretty convincing argument though.

We did meet the coolest Asian in the world though.

Fishing time!

My first catch!

Success!!

Caught that fish with muh bear hands!

Oh yea, we set this crab trap and caught this little crabby crab

It wouldn't be a family vacation without a family game night...

This was one of my favorite weekends in a long time. We are all so blessed with amazing friends and families, and we are lucky to be able to enjoy times like these together.

Also, if you feel the need to visit with the swamp people again, just come on down.. they are there like every weekend. It's so weird! I think they like all the attention they get there.. hah!
