"San-toe Barbara"
Tuesday May 17, 2011

*WARNING*
This message contains graphic images that should only be viewed by mature audiences. We think Josh broke his toe surfing today.
For those of you who are sensitive to feet . . . look away.

Anyways, we arrived in Santa Barbara last night to a delicious home cooked meal made by Chef Katie Buchert.
I didn’t manage to take any pictures last night because we were starving when we arrived and in a food coma after dinner . . . because it was phenomenal.
Habanero mango sausage stuffed chicken with baked potato salad and grilled asparagus with hollandaise sauce . . . and of course cupcakes!
We stayed up late catching up on Modern Family episodes we’ve missed and watching more hilarious YouTube videos.

Katie, Wayne, and I woke up this morning and went to Montecito for coffee, while the boys held many business meetings to take care of all of our important matters.
(BTW, Oprah has a $52 million house in Montecito, but unfortunately we didn’t find see her or the house)
After the businessmen spent about 3 hours on the phone, we put a deposit down on a new Land Rover for Josh in Dallas AND booked a U-Haul in Phoenix.
Hooray for two new modes of transportation!

We finally have our method of getting home taken care of, so we celebrated by surfing all afternoon.

Josh was a beast.

. . . . and Bart survived.

We had the best surfing teacher evvvvver...

We all fell in love with this dog . . .

Josh was dominating some waves . . .

And then we were beaten down by another round of awesome luck.
We believe Josh broke his toe.

I have a feeling the Elk jokes won’t end for a while . . .

We were also visited by these lovely solicitors this afternoon who wanted us to help them ban all trash bags from California.
Cause who needs trash bags, right?

We’re headin downtown tonight for our last dinner in Cali, then waking up early in the morning to go back to Phoenix to get rid of this dang rental car.
Hopefully, we won’t have any more run-ins with wildlife on the interstate and we will get to visit with Leonard Knight at Salvation Mountain tomorrow!
Cross your fingssssss

I so should not have looked at that toe ... but when you say "don't look" ... I always look.
ugh.

The combination of that beard, a reusable water bottle, and a petition to eliminate trash bags does not surprise me.

even with the best surf teacher ever, there's no way i'd actually be able to successfully get up on a surf board
