Lollapalooza 2010

Oct 13, 2011

My only motivation to get through finals week of my first semester of PA school was getting rid of these dreaded shoes and heading to Chicago for the Lollapalooza music festival.

Story behind the shoes:
They were coated in a lovely layer of grime from waitressing in college + goo from cadaver lab.
I hope you understand my eagerness to get them into this dumpster, rather than donate them to Goodwill.

They were right at home between a toilet paper roll and a franzia box.

As soon as I got ride of those puppies, and finished my final final (see what I did there?) I hopped on the plane to Chicago to meet up with these cool kids.

The food at Lolla just didn't quite compare to Rothbury and ACL food.
Exhibit A:
"Punk Rock Shrimp"
Nausea + vomiting followed.
For real.
Yes, that is red and blue colored popcorn.

Anyways, even though I missed seeing the Dirty Projectors show (which I am reminded of weekly) I met up with everyone just in time to go see some GaGa.
Which was kindaaaa awesome.

Lots of blood and drama and F bombs.

Jennifer and I collected enough cans to get free Lolla tshirts!
Bargain shoppers.

GaGa did Kel in.

Day 2.

Our hotel was conveniently located across the street from the entrance.

Rogue Wave.

Blues Traveler.

Grizzly Bear.

Me and Jwhoaaaaaaaa

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros.
Highlight of Day 2.

Mikey and Sut.

We don't really know these guys . . .

Headin to Wrigleyville after night 2.

Day 3:
Frank Turner

Lots of rain = great opportunity to use my Jacket in a Packet

Blitzen Trapper.

Mumford & Sons.
Highlight of Day 3.

Marcus Mumford swappin it up and blowin peoples brains with his drum skills....who knew?

We truly don't know who that girl was.
. . . but she was British and spoke awesomely.

Yeasayer.

Josh and I snuck off to grab a bite to eat and check out Frightened Rabbit and guess who we bumped into . . .
Ben Lovett from Mumford and Sons.

By the way, MGMT was terrible.

The National.

Arcade Fire closed out the weekend for us.

Hearing the entire crowd singing together for the chorus of "Wake Up" gave me chills.

Success.

We also got to experience some freaky ghost encounters at our hotel while we were in Chicago, so be on the look out later for a ghost post!
