"Fleet Foxes Concert and Santa Barbara"
Sunday May 8, 2011

Last night we got to see the Fleet Foxes play at the Hollywood  Palladium.
The show was beyond incredible.
I would definitely place their live show among the ranks of The Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons, and Edward Sharpe’s live shows.
We got to hear all of our favs: Sim Sala Bim (my personal favorite), Mykonos, White Winter Hymnal and The Shrine/An Argument, which was insaaaaaane.

We submitted this pic for Today's Letters Fist Pump Friday series.

Our celebrity radar was on full alert at the show.
Josh swears he saw Blake Mycoskie (huge curly fro, red flannel shirt, super tall . . . but he forgot to look at his shoes! reaaaalllllly?!?!)
Also, I swear I saw every member of Local Natives, but after a further (and might I add, embarassing) interrogation, the supposed “lead singer” claims he wasn’t.
Whatever.
So far my celeb radar has been pretty accurate after spotting Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and Ben Lovett (Mumford & Sons), so I’m just gonna tell myself the guy was lying and that really was Ron Swanson from Local Natives.
Can’t wait to finally see them live in a few weeks at Sasquatch!

On the drive up the coast today, we stopped at In-n-Out . . . for the third time.
We have a problem, we know.
After reading an awesome article about In-N-Out’s secret menu we HAD to go back and try the Animal Style fries:

Today we got to do one of the things I’ve been lookin forward to the most on this trip:
drive Highway 1 up the coast.
There really aren’t any words that could adequately describe how wonderful it was.
I had full intentions of getting a lot of reading done during all of our hours on the road, but reading was impossible on this drive.
There’s just way too much to see.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our moms and grandmothers! We all love each of yall tons, and we hate we aren’t there to spend the day with you!

Katie, my PA school friend, and her boyfriend Wayne are our wonderful hosts in Santa Barbara.
We’ve spent the last hour watching this youtube video on repeat:

They took us surfing earlier, which was AMAZING, and here’s a few of our pics:
